My good co-student chum Meaghan van Loenen was kind enough to contribute some of her photos from our tour of Labassa. Thank you, Meaghan! These really are marvellous. I love the gumleaves tickling the towertop.

Labassa is a curious house – I rather think the potential of the Aesthetic and Art Nouveau elements in the décor is lost in the showy, nouveau riche masculinity of the place. I wish I had some interior photographs so that readers could decide for themselves – perhaps one day.
