I enjoyed a double-dose of foppery this week! First, I had to skip through a hoop or two for a certain government identification document including a photograph, so I road-tested an ensemble in blue – white-on-colour striped shirt with a grey suit. I rather liked the effect. Second, an unexpected pleasure; a gathering somewhere between an interview and a group discussion, at the behest of a journalist interested in steampunk, organised by Ms Omega of Melbourne nightclub Steampunkerie and hosted by The Lockworks. For that, I went with a suit in reds – checked trousers, frock coat and a William Morris-inspired tie. That was an instructive affair – I met some very interesting and very wise steampunky folks. Really must thank all involved.
Ah! And, in between chasing down some necessary paperwork and very happily meeting Ms Merah at her offices, I spotted a fascinating chap in what looked for all the world like an Edwardian cricketing uniform – cream jumper, brown coat, flat cap, very smart indeed. As fortune would have it, he shortly approached me to ask for directions, and while I couldn’t help him, we struck up a brief but enjoyable conversation about W.G. Grace and the appeal of the rogue in history. Cheers much, that chap!
Married life thus far is exactly as I imagined; that is, exactly like life before, only even happier. I’ve a few projects I hope to have active before the week is out, but forgive me if I play things close to the chest for now – suffice to say, I hope to both entertain my readers and offer some practical services. Bless your britches, all, and I’ll talk to you soon.
